If you are interested in adjunct employment at the Center for ASL/English Bilingual Education and Research (CAEBER) at Gallaudet University, the first step is to complete the online Application (link located below). To be considered for adjunct employment, you must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below so please be sure to review them before applying. Your next step is to send your resume/curriculum vitae as an email attachment to caeber@gallaudet.edu. Once all of your paperwork has been received, it will be reviewed and you will be contacted for an interview.

If you are coming to interview for an adjunct teaching position, on the day of your interview, you will need to bring samples of lesson plans, quizzes and tests. If you do not bring this requested documentation to the interview, it will be cancelled upon your arrival. You will also be asked to provide a short demonstration of your ASL teaching skills.

Minimum Qualifications for Adjunct Employment

  • Bachelor's degree in ASL, ASL Teaching, Deaf Studies or a related field
  • ASLPI rating of 4+ or above
  • 2 or more years of teaching experience with diverse learners
  • Experience in teaching ASL at the college level preferred
  • VISTA Signing Naturally Level 1 and 2 training
  • Experience in developing syllabi, course content, activities, quizzes & tests
  • ASLTA certification preferred
