Language Planning Institute
CPSO's Language Planning Institute consists of two units:
ASL Instructional Program
The ASL instructional program, under the College of Professional Studies and Outreach, offers a variety of credit and non-credit courses and training opportunities for visiting students, parents, professionals and other interested individuals including the Gallaudet community at large. Classes include instruction in ASL I-VI, Visual Gestural Communication, and ASL special topic areas as well as those designed to meet the needs of a specific professional discipline or audience.
Center for ASL/English Bilingual Education and Research (CAEBER)
The Center for ASL/English Bilingual Education and Research (CAEBER) envisions high academic achievement for deaf and hard-of-hearing students by facilitating proficiency in both American Sign Language and English and providing professional development in ASL/English bilingual assessment, curriculum and instructional strategies; as well as the effective use of language planning and cutting-edge technology to facilitate development of both languages academically.
